An experience to cherish: Visit to Bajaj Auto's plant at Chakan

The Bajaj Pulsar Group was recently invited by Bajaj Auto Limited at their Chakan Plant in Pune. Kapil, Parimal, Vinod and myself being members of the group were lucky enough to be picked in a limited group of 30 invitees. The visit to the manufacturing facility was something I never saw before- very hi-tech and employing the very modern machinery available. Was fun seeing the robots work, manufacture and even inspect for quality control. As Kapil said, there is no doubt BAL deserved the Manufacturing Excellence Award.

We had lunch at the BAL Canteen, followed by a interactive session with the seniors from the manufacturing, R&D and marketing team. Numerous questions were patiently listened to and equally well answered. Later at the track we were disappointed to know that a 220 wasnt available for a test. But we had shining 4 new hunky P200s lined up for test.
2 laps were enough for me to fall in love with the machine. Looks big, smooth engine than the earlier Pulsars, wonderful gearshifts, sporty seating position, excellent road holding manners on straights and corners. The day concluded with a cocktail dinner party sponsored by BAL at Panchsheel Park. Friendly discussions, reviews, suggestions, expectations carried on late into the night with the senior BAL team.

Had a good night sleep and tasty breakfast in the morning. Later we headed to Lavasa for a short ride. Shot two videos while riding along with the pics.
It wasnt that fun riding and taking curves with lot of sand and gravel scattered on the road. Headed back home in the evening with a stopover for lunch at Toni-da-Dhaba.
